This program features new chamber works with scenarios. Gregory Wanamaker's A Story Within a Story, with video by renowned visual artist Carrie Mae Weems, is a reflective work about social justice, civil rights and change -- at home, in our country, and abroad. Also, Ernst Bacon's Come up from the fields, Father -- a last letter from a soldier to his family during the Civil War on a text of Walt Whitman; Kevin Puts' And Legions Will Rise, about the power in all of us to transcend during times of tragedy, the forces inside us ready to do battle when we are at our lowest; plus the premiere of three movements of Nikolas A. Jeleniauskas' Earthe Dances, 2011. Performers include Linda Greene, John Friedrichs, Ann McIntyre, David LeDoux, Sar Strong, Rob Bridge, and Neva Pilgrim, with Cynthia Johnston Turner, conductor.
